London Baroque | audio

You can listen to the whole first chapter of London Baroque here. The action moves to the streets of London in 1604 as the poet, Robert Herrick, recalls the coronation procession of King James I. It is the day before the pageant: the king and the queen are in disguise and Herrick is in love. High in a garret of the Royal Exchange, a mysterious old man reveals an artifice to them the like of which they have never seen.

Performed by Robert, Rich, Clare Churly and Gaby Kingham. Edited and with music by Rich. Incidental music: an excerpt from Jean-Phillippe Rameau’s ‘Danse du grand calumet de paix’ from Les Indes Galantes, licensed under Creative Commons.
